In the years after WWII, Louis Zamperini would go on to do many things. Louis launched a new career as a Christian inspirational speaker. He credited his survival to God and moved on from the war after years of Post Traumatic Stress not with revenge but with forgiveness. He went back to Japan and spoke with his former captors; all except 'the bird'. Louis even ran with the Olympic Torch in Japan at 80 years old. He wrote a #1 best Seller book, The Devil at My Heels, describing his life during the war. Zamperini was to be the grand marshall of the 2014 Rose Parade but passed away on July 2, 2012 after a battle with pneumonia at the age of 97. He lives on today through Laura Hillenbrand's best selling book Unbroken and Angelina Jolie's on-screen adaptation of the biography.
